Join us in Central London this November for ‘The Listening Dojo’ with Stephen Burt. A playful, practical, and thought-provoking workshop, followed by optional festive drinks!
Listening sits at the very heart of effective coaching, yet it often receives less attention than it deserves. In this highly interactive session, The Art of Listening in Coaching and Mentoring, Stephen will guide us through a range of approaches to deepen our listening practice, beyond the coaching conversation itself.
Building on the idea that reflexive practice is essential for growth as a coach, Stephen introduces the distinction between the performance zone (when we’re coaching) and the practice zone, our personal “Dojo” for development. Through playful and accessible exercises, many inspired by improvised theatre, participants will explore behaviours, habits, and everyday opportunities to strengthen their listening skills.
Using the framework from his book The Art of Listening in Coaching and Mentoring, Stephen will help you identify your “learning edge” as a listener and prioritise the elements you most want to develop.
Expect a hands-on, energising session designed for coaches of all levels, one that combines depth with humour, reflection with action, and skill-building with a touch of festive spirit.
Stephen Burt has over 20 years’ experience as a coach, facilitator, and leadership development specialist. He has designed and led coaching and leadership programmes across the UK and internationally, working with business schools, professional bodies, and global organisations.
Stephen is the author of The Art of Listening in Coaching and Mentoring and has delivered coaching development sessions for the London Coaching Group, EMCC, and numerous leadership communities.
Known for his engaging and playful facilitation style, shaped by his experience as a performer of improvised theatre, Stephen combines humour with depth, helping coaches explore and expand their capacity for awareness, connection, and growth.
