Coaches Corner with Chris Wood

1. Who or what inspired you to do what you do?
In my previous career in PR, the counsel I was giving to senior clients started to go beyond how to handle the media. And when one said to me “you have to check in your humanity to work in this company,” I knew I wanted to be a coach. Suddenly the multi-million global relaunch seemed much less interesting!

2. What do you find the most challenging about your work?
Reigning in my empathy so that it remains helpful to the coaching process rather than a hindrance.

3. What’s the biggest lesson you have learnt in recent years?
That a talent for making life difficult for myself needs to be laid to rest.

4. If you could wave a magic wand and have one wish for you or your coaching practice, what would it be and why?
That my language skills were not limited to an O level in German - so that I could experience the privilege of coaching in languages other than English.

5. Tell us a fact that not many people know about you …
I’m a Master of the spiritual healing art of Reiki - though I promise to leave your chakras alone in the workshop!
