May 2023 Newsletter
Well that was a fantastic evening of getting together, of sharing and of learning! On 25th April the wonderful Sam Isaacson who so generously shared his knowledge, his wisdom and some tools that will support us in being prepared for the future of coaching.
We came together to find out more about Artificial Intelligence (AI), how it might support us as coaches and how it might impact the coaching industry. It was wonderful to be ‘back in the room again’, actually speaking to each other face to face with a huge range of coaches and people working in the coaching profession, from those who experienced a London Coaching Group event for the first time, to seasoned LCG-ers and even those who set up the London Coaching Group many years ago.
Sam helped us understand what AI means in coaching, what it might mean for us in the near and long-distance future and how we might have a voice in its development. We now know that AI will have an impact on all of us, we now also know how we might work with it rather than feeling terrified of what will come. Sam shared some wonderful tools with us, even one allowing us 5 minutes’ space to think and to rest!
We’re genuinely so delighted that our first in-person event of 2023 went off with such a bang and that so many people in attendance went away feeling more knowledgeable and equipped to deal with what’s coming.
Here's what attendees had to say:
"A complex issue expertly simplified. Sam Isaacson guided us through the excitement, opportunity, and uncertainty that makes AI the most pervasive discussion today."
Eric Rugundu
"Artificial Intelligence in Coaching: two truths and a Lie" with Sam Isaacson, hosted by the London Coaching group, was an interesting journey through the way Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming how we live and work, and in particular, how AI could change the face of coaching forever.
The event was also an excellent opportunity to exchange insightful and innovative thoughts with coaching colleagues and experts in the field to stay informed about emerging trends and best practices.

We've had lovely feedback for our March Events:
"Clear introduction and explanation of mental models. Confident and clear presenter”
“Mixture of listening to the speaker, seeing the engagement from the attendees, small group discussions”
“Hearing from Karen, an expert in TA, and understanding how the different models come together as a unified framework. Having an opportunity to think deeply on a topic and make meaning from it”
"Marian led us through a highly experiential and practical session providing useful questions and approaches I will put into practice straight away. Using these questions in mini coaching sessions with other coaches proved magical! We were able to get to a depth of thinking rapidly, putting to one side the unimportant and bringing into focus what really mattered. Really powerful! Thank you Marian Way and LCG."
"Clare's session was insightful and supportive. Her suggestions made me think about my own practice especially around how to ask questions to work more in partnership and ultimately how I can do more by doing less."
Next online event is 6th June 'Coaching Supervision - developing self-awareness or self-delusion' with Julia Carden - this event will be on-line
Julia will provide a short facilitated session to reflect on the value and role of coaching supervision. This will challenge the participants to think about how it can support self-awareness and also exacerbate self-delusion. The session will include thinking on what supervision means for the coaching profession; the pros and cons of different forms of supervision; how it supports coaches; what do we avoid taking to supervision; and how can we avoid self-delusion - or can we?
