Coaches Corner with Tim Segaller

1. Who or what inspired you to do what you do?
Without being too vague, all my life experiences – good and bad – led me to this work. In my early 30s I did a lot of work on myself (I needed it) and in the process realised I had a passion for helping other people uncover their deepest selves and truths, and get more from life. I then discovered I seemed to be half-decent at this!

2. What do you find the most challenging about your work?
Because I have such a personal investment and interest in this work, it can sometimes be hard completely switching off. But I’m working on it!

3. What's the biggest lesson you have learnt in recent years?
Perhaps the most important factor in living well is to know which things you can control, and which you can’t, and to be pro-active with the former, and to let go with the latter. This applies to being a good coach too. I occasionally succeed in this regard!

4. If you could wave a magic wand and have one wish for you or your coaching practice, what would it be and why?
I’d love to work with a bigger variety of ‘types’ of client (whatever that means), as I thrive in diversity, and in having my horizons broadened.

5. Tell us a fact that not many people know about you ...
I have dabbled in stand-up comedy. If everyone is well-behaved on the night, maybe I’ll share a joke or two!
