UnLearning to Coach - with Clare Norman on Tues 28th March

Inner Work, Outer Impact: Workshop 4 in the Series

UnLearning to Coach: How to get out of your own way and become the best coach you can be - with Clare Norman on Tues 28th March 18.00-19.30 Online

We’ve learned so much in our lifetimes, from our parents, our teachers, our peers, our work, our managers, our coach training. But when it comes to coaching, that prior learning is not always useful. We need to unlearn some mindsets and skillsets in order to make way for new ones that enable our thinkers, our clients, to think in new ways.

During this experiential session, we’ll delve deeper into the scripts our parents taught us, beliefs we learned from school, habits we learned at work, practices we learned from our coach training, and shine a light on what we may need to unlearn to be a masterful coach. The session will incorporate visualisation, movement, small group work and group discussion, and will leave you wondering what else you need to unlearn to be a more masterful coach!

Clare Norman is highly sought after by other expert coaches, as well as successful coach training companies as a Master Mentor Coach. Clare looks to continually sharpen individuals’ coaching edge and upskill mentor coaches so they can deliver high-quality feedback to their coaches-in-development. Her laser focus on mindset shifts and her knack for spotting marginal gains has made her a go-to person for coaches looking for mentorship and practical, meaningful ways to improve their practice. Her second book, The Transformational Coach: Free your Thinking and Break Through to Coaching Mastery, draws together all that she has discovered from mentor coaching about what coaches need to unlearn in order to be masterful coaches.

If you attend/listen to all the online meeting, you will receive 1 CCE in Core competencies and .5 CCE in Resource Development.

COACHES CORNER Q&A:

1.Who or what inspired you to do what you do?

Coaching: I was looking for ways to transfer the learning out of the classroom and into real life, to make habit change sustainable.  Coaching was one of the ways of doing that, and once I learned about it, I was hooked! Mentor Coaching and Coaching Supervision: I have experienced the power of these two individualised growth interventions myself and know that they both make me a far better coach.  At the same time, I am all about professionalising our industry, and these are two of the ways of doing just that, raising our collective game.

2. What do you find the most challenging about your work?

Working with coaches  who treat mentor coaching as a tick box exercise for credentialing, rather than coming to it with a growth mindset.

3. What's the biggest lesson you have learnt in recent years?

Pace myself and my work, so that I can be fully present for everyone.

4. If you could wave a magic wand and have one wish for you or your coaching practice, what would it be and why?

At time of print, that my MCC would hurry up and be verified.  Otherwise, my greatest wish for this year is to run a mastery retreat and 1-1 retreats, as well as taking retreats myself (see above about pacing myself)

5. Tell us a fact that not many people know about you...

I did a solo sky-dive for charity when I was 22.  So glad I did it, but once was enough.

Reinforcing previous learning, moving positions, correlation with ICF competencies”
“Clare’s approach and style are unique. Her expertise and generous intuition are invaluable. The session also provided a useful self reflection into the characteristics I might be looking for, in gaining a mentor for myself”
“Thank you for organising these workshops - they have been so interesting and useful
