"Come and Play: Exploring the role of playfulness and imagination in coaching" with Stephanie Wheeler and Teresa Leyman

  • London Coaching Group The Sekforde, 34 Sekforde Street, Clerkenwell EC1R 0HA (short walk from Farringdon station) United Kingdom (map)

Join us for our final event for 2023, which promises to be a fun evening of playfulness, humour and creativity, with more informal networking and optional end-of-year drinks after the session.

Playfulness opens the door to somatic coaching, experiential learning and strengthens the capacity to be present in the moment for both coach and client.  Embracing its potential may be a route to elevating our coaching practice, helping our clients to develop insights, creativity and the ability to move forward on a whole other level.

Stephanie Wheeler and Teresa Leyman are back by popular demand after a brilliant virtual session in 2021. This highly experiential in-person event is set to bring newer ideas and exploration around playfulness. Whether or not you attended before, you already bring creativity in your practice, or believe you have no creative flair, come and join us to experiment in a safe space and leverage the new and exciting area of adult playfulness in psychology.

Stephanie and Teresa will draw on a wide range of research and theory, as well as their own and others’ experience, and start playing with what playfulness might look like in practice, helping us to recognise and tap into our own authentic playfulness. Some potential barriers and risks will also be considered as well as plenty of reflection points and ideas for deepening connection to playfulness and bringing more to our coaching practice.

Stephanie and Teresa’s book, Playfulness in Coaching: Exploring Our Untapped Potential Through Playfulness, Creativity and Imagination has recently been published by Routledge. They both hold an MSc in Coaching for Behavioural Change from Henley Business School and are accredited individual and systemic team coaches passionate about supporting the flourishing of individuals, teams and organisations. They also run workshops for coaches to develop this area of their practice and have spoken at a number of events including the ICF Converge 2023.

Stephanie is also a LEGO® Serious Play® facilitator, writes for The LSP Magazine and has written peer-reviewed research articles. Teresa is an agile coach and supervisor with experience of leading hi-tech, complex change. Both are interested in the possibilities offered by playful thinking in complex and fast-changing environments.

If you attend all the live meeting, you will receive 1.5 CCEs: to be advised.

It was thoroughly engaging and highly enjoyable and was also a good networking opportunity “
“The in person interaction and learning from others. Chance to meet new people/coaches”
“Everything! The welcome was warm and genuine even though it was my first time and I’m not a full time coach yet. The speakers were engaging and inviting. The topic provoked curiosity and was (of course) playful. Venue good Timing worked so that the finish was not too late for travel
